Texas A&M trailed 36-26 at halftime, but turned it up defensively in the second half of its season opener.

SMU hit only five of 27 shots from the field after halftime.

Delisha Wills scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Mustangs, and Janielle Dodds chipped in with 15 points and eight rebounds.

Jillian Samuels hit a 3-pointer that gave SMU a 51-48 lead with 6:36 left.

But Texas A&M used a 9-0 surge over the next 2:15 to take the lead for good.

SMU led by as many as 12 points in the first half.

Horton scored 10 for A&M.

No. 15 Baylor 83, Howard 31

Waco, Texas – Danielle Wilson scored 16 points, and Jessika Bradley had 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead Baylor in a rout.

Jhasmin Player added 10 points, and Melissa Jones grabbed 10 rebounds for Baylor.

Texas Tech 72, UCF 57

Orlando, Fla. – Jordan Murphree scored 17 points, and Dominic Seals had a double-double to lead Texas Tech.

Seals scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Erin Myrick added 16 points for the Raiders.

Oklahoma State 89, Air Force 49

Stillwater, Okla. – Freshman Kristin Hernandez scored 25 points to lead Oklahoma State.

Hernandez, a 5-foot-9 guard, came off the bench to shine during two key runs.
