State lawmaker attends coal seminar

State Rep. Tom Sloan, R-Lawrence, participated in the Advanced Coal Technologies Energy Institute, sponsored by the National Conference of State Legislatures and Great Plains Institute.

Presentations included discussions of new technologies to remove carbon dioxide from coal-fired electric generation units; legislative opportunities to change public policy-making toward more environmentally friendly actions; and carbon sequestration.

Sloan is the lone state legislator to be a member of the National Wind Coordinating Collaborative, and he has served as chairman of the Energy and Environment Task Force for the Council of State Governments.
