Haskell women fall short

Kansas City, Mo. – Haskell Indian Nations University nearly erased a nine-point, second-half deficit Tuesday night, but fell to Avila, 71-70, in women’s basketball.

“We weren’t really aggressive like we normally are,” Haskell coach Phil Homeratha said.

Kortney Smith led the Indians with 15 points.

Indians miss by a point

Kansas City, Mo. – The Haskell Indian Nations University men’s basketball team’s rally fell short Tuesday, and Avila College escaped with an 84-83 victory.

“We were down 19 with 11 minutes to go,” HINU coach Ted Juneau said. “We had the ball with 21â2 seconds to go, and we couldn’t get it in.”
