From the Lawrence Daily World for Nov. 6, 1907: “Lathrop Bullene and Susan Read Bullene celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary yesterday at their beautiful home south of town. They were married in Kenosha, Wis., and came here in 1857. Lathrop has been a business leader ever since though he is retired now. : Gopher pelts continue to pour in to the county in large numbers and officials pay out bounties gladly, knowing how the trapping benefits farmers. George Ford of Grant Township brought in 62 scalps.”
