The Douglas County 4-H Council met Oct. 15. The meeting was called to order by Jen Livingood, vice president. Roll call was taken, and Lacey Hunsinger, secretary, read minutes from a previous meeting.

Emily Morehouse and Kjrsten Abel Ruch read their announcements: The next 4-H Council meeting is planned for 7 p.m. Dec. 17 at Deal Six Auditorium at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds; the Concession Stand Committee will meet at 6:15 p.m. Dec. 17; re-enrollment cards were due Nov. 1., and if they are not received by Dec. 3, members will be dropped from the newsletter list.

Also, club financial review forms for 2006-2007 are due to the extension office so they can be approved by the extension board.

They also announced that setup for the Achievement Celebration will be at 5 p.m. today, and script practice will follow at 6 p.m. The event, which will have a fiesta theme, will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday in Building 21 at the fairgrounds.

Other announcements included: The Bromelsick party will be 1-4 p.m. Dec. 2 in the Community Building, and volunteers from each club to help run games may be needed; request for proposal forms for Project Skillathon are available, and the event is planned for Jan. 21.

Also, three adult volunteers are needed for the northeast area 4-H Record Book Screening Day, set for Jan. 24 in Manhattan. Contact Morehouse for more information about the screening day.

They announced that more information will be on the way for Citizenship in Action, which will be Feb. 17-18, and KC Global Conference, set for March 12-15; and they thanked the people who helped make Friendship Night and record book judging a success.

Members signed up for and met with their committee. The purchase of journal subscriptions were discussed.

Concession stand drawings are planned for the next meeting.

New officers were elected. They include Lacey Hunsinger, president; Shelby Miller, vice president; Brianna Landon, secretary; Jessica Gibler, treasurer; Claire Blevins, reporter; Sierra O’Brien, historian; Jackie Hewins, parliamentarian; Mary Garzillo, Fair Board representative; Mike Kelso, adult adviser; and Mary Wakeman, adult Fair Board representative.

¢The Meadowlark 4-H Club gathered for a meeting Oct. 9. Shelby Miller called the meeting to order. Members answered roll call by telling what they planned to be on Halloween. Minutes from the last meeting were read and approved.

It was announced that a haunted hay ride was being planned by the Prairie Moon 4-H Club, and that the 4-H Achievement Celebration is set for Nov. 4.

In new business, the club approved starting a new Yahoo group. In discussing possible 4-H Sunday activities, Shelby Miller proposed that the club could go caroling, visit someone’s church and have dinner. Kennedy O’Dell seconded the motion.

Sarah Mechem and Luke Mische were welcomed as new members.

The club’s next meeting is planned for Tuesday. Members adjourned the meeting by saying the club pledge and motto.
