Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Nov. 2, 1907: Despite promises and predictions from most Kansas people of a victory, Washburn handed KU its first loss in five games, by a score of 12-5, today in Topeka. Enthusiasm was high and competition fierce but the Topekans won in what they call ‘the biggest game of the season’ for both teams. There was understandable disappointment among coach Bert Kennedy and his Kansas players. : Prof. Snow, the university weather experts, tells us what we already knew: that we have just had an average beautiful Kansas October. The first white frost of the season came on the 8th but there was no severe killing frost all month.
