Miami ? Pistons guard Richard Hamilton missed Detroit’s season-opener at Miami on Thursday because of what the team called “a family matter.”

Rookie Arron Afflalo started in Hamilton’s place.

Hamilton was expected to rejoin the Pistons in Orlando today. He averaged a team-high 19.8 points last season.

Miami also was without its starting shooting guard for the opener; Dwyane Wade (knee, shoulder) isn’t expected back for a couple more weeks, at least.
