To the editor:

I am responding to Doug Brown’s Take A Stand column in the Saturday, May 26, edition. Just because a business could generate money in the community does not mean it’s a business we want or one that will truly benefit the community. Should we just throw up a great big porno movie theater at the corner of Sixth and Wakarusa? I bet it would generate some money. Not all decisions should be based on money.

In addition, there’s already one gigantic Wal-Mart in town. The unique character of Lawrence will decrease as the number of Wal-Marts increases.
