From the Lawrence Daily World for May 29, 1907: “The Natural Gas Association of America composed of the leading people in the industry, has re-elected J.H. Dunkel of Lawrence as its secretary. He is well-known and very accomplished in the field. : With the Cornhuskers one point to the good and the pole vault left to decide the meet, Claude Russell, star Kansas Jayhawk vaulter, cleared the bar at 11 feet, winning his event and giving KU a two-point victory over Nebraska here Saturday. : June 14 will be Flag Day and every effort is being made here to pay proper homage to our national banner. It will be the 130th anniversary of the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the emblem of this nation.”
