Man arrested after altercation with police

Police arrested a 28-year-old Lawrence man Friday morning after they accused him of trying to strike an officer.

Lawrence police officers were responding to a domestic disturbance call at 1:39 a.m. in the 3500 block of West 22nd Street.

When officers arrived, the suspect stopped them from entering the apartment, whereupon officers noticed blood on the man’s shirt and arm but no obvious signs of injury, according to reports.

Officers were trying to check on the well-being of a woman inside the apartment when the altercation between the man and police ensued.

Police sprayed the man with pepper spray to subdue him.
