The Sons of Union Veterans, Sgt. Samuel J. Churchill Camp No. 4, will rededicate a Civil War monument and plaque in Pioneer Cemetery on Kansas University’s West Campus at 3 p.m. Monday. All are invited.

The monument was installed by the Grand Army of the Republic in 1906 and was dedicated to Civil War veterans buried in the cemetery. The monument’s original plaque was stolen and never replaced. The Sons of Union Veterans camp has obtained a replacement plaque and has had the monument repaired.

¢The Pilot Club of Lawrence recently welcomed new officers for the 2007-2008 year. They include Vernis Flottman, president; Jody Woodward, president-elect; Diana Boyd, treasurer; and Lisa Smith, secretary. They will take their posts July 1.

In April, Marsha Fowler, Vernis Flottman and Jody Woodward attended the Kansas-Missouri District Convention in Wichita.

¢The University Bridge Club conducted its annual Spring Fling party with a catered buffet dinner on May 19 with 10 tables playing. Hosts were Myrna Ikenberry, Mary Kanous and Ray Ikenberry.

Blue winners were Dale Kring, first; George Bocquin, second; Al Smith, third; Dave Gaumer, fourth; Leonard Fleske, fifth; Roy Cropp, sixth; Paul Jordan, seventh; and Karmie Galle, eighth.

Pink winners were Mary Gaumer, first; Bebe Huxtable, second; Carol Smith, third; Wilma Cropp, fourth; Jean Etherton, fifth; Carolyn Harden, sixth; Jane Golden, seventh; and Carolyn Jordan, eighth.
