Jerry Bottenfield is the new director of community development for Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center, a Lawrence-based operation with nearly 200 mental-health professionals and support staffers who last year served more than 5,000 consumers and at-risk students in Douglas County.

Bottenfield, who has owned businesses and worked previously as director of Downtown Lawrence Inc., joined Bert Nash on April 30.

He replaces Scott McMichael, who left Lawrence to become an assistant athletics director and director of development for athletics at the University of Colorado in Boulder.
