The Lawrence Humane Society needs volunteers to take animals for visits at nursing homes in Douglas County. Shifts include Wednesday and Thursday afternoon visits, two to four times each month.

Immediate volunteer needs

¢ Douglas County Visiting Nurses/Hospice Care is in need of hospice volunteers to support patients and their families.

Volunteers are needed to converse with patients, prepare light meals, reposition bedfast patients, read aloud to patients, assist with letter writing, and act as a supportive friend and helper to patients and their families. For more information, contact Steve Satterfield at 843-3738.

¢ Lawrence Therapy Services seeks volunteers to assist children with disabilities with summer camp activities. Volunteers will be directed by occupational, physical and speech therapists to assist with fine and gross motor skills activities, speech and social interactions.
