The Kansas organization of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees conducted a convention April 29-May 1 in Junction City. Nearly 300 members, delegates and guests attended. John Surritte, president of the Lawrence chapter, was re-elected as state president and presides over 46 chapters in Kansas.
¢The Friday Afternoon Bridge Club played a stratified Mitchell movement at seven and a half tables directed by Virginia Seaver on May 4. Lynn Hui and Harry Shaffer won first in A at North-South, followed by Janice Hollowell and Jean Otney, who won second in A and first in B. Clyde Romer and Kent McCullough won third in A, and Klee Zaricky and Sally Taylor won second in B. Betty Spalsbury and Bob Anderson won first in C. Paul Heitzman and Dave Piro led the East-West pairs, winning first in A. Cathy Blumenfeld and Eldon Herd won second in A and first in B. Bobbie McCorkle and Jane Holliman won third in A, second in B and first in C. Ellie and Bobby Patton won second in C and third in B.
¢ The Monday Evening Bridge Club played a stratified Mitchell movement at 10 tables directed by Virginia Seaver on May 7. Jim Stewart and Jeff Nash won first in A and B playing North-South, followed by Kent McCullough and Larry Bodle who won second in A. Jerry Sloan and Eldon Herd won third in A. Dorothy Netson and Barbara Merriam won first in C and second in B, and Janice and Kelley Bremer won third in B. Betty Spalsbury and Al Ballard won second in C.
Dave Piro and Pete Petillo won at East-West taking first place in A. Donna Johnson and Paul Heitzman won second in A, and Yvonne and Chuck Hedges won third in A and first in B. Emily Foster and Sam Pierron won first in C and second in B. Jo Andersen and Pat Musick won second in C and third in B.
¢University Bridge Club announces results of its May 12 meeting. Hosts were Karmie and Edna Galle. Blue winners were George Bocquin, first; Marc Kuepker, second; Florence McNicoll, third; Janet Dunn, fourth; and Al Smith, fifth. Pink winners were Myrna Ikenberry, first; Alice Akin, second; Cora Kuepker, third; Cathy Waller, fourth; and Aileen Bocquin, fifth.
