Jayhawks, ‘Huskers set for three-game series

Kansas University’s baseball team will open a three-game series with Nebraska at 7 tonight at Hoglund Ballpark.

The two squads will meet at 6 p.m. Saturday and 5 p.m. Sunday.

Nebraska enters with a 27-22 record, 12-12 in Big 12 Conference play. KU is 27-28, 8-15.

KU’s Andy Marks (5-6, 5.29 earned-run average) is expected to pitch tonight and be opposed by Tony Watson (5-4, 3.63, 78 strikeouts in 86.2 innings). Nebraska enters on the heels of Tuesday’s 9-2 loss to Creighton. That snapped a three-game win streak. NU is 9-8 away from Lincoln in league games this year.

The teams split four meetings last season, with KU downing NU in the Big 12 tournament championship, 9-7.
