City Commissioner Tom Gleason survived a recall election with 5,357 voters opposed to the recall and 4,080 in favor. Gleason added his voice to calls from many others to heal wounds that had been opened when he had sought the resignation of City Manager Buford Watson. Watson was retained despite the effort.
