From the Lawrence Daily World for May 12, 1907: “The Redmen Carnival opens here tonight and it should be a good time in Central Park. The show comes here from Pittsburg where it was well-received. : Steadily dropping rates have been responsible for more and more getting electric power and those who have it say they never would again do without it, even if the price was higher. : The 10th biennial session of the general council of the Fraternal Aid Assn. is now taking place here and more than 300 delegates have arrived to boost the local economy. : More than 30 reportedly died in a Southern Pacific train wreck near Santa Barbara, Calif., yesterday. “
