Local officials felt they had been well-received on a trip to Washington to lobby for funds for the Clinton and Perry lake projects and improved local flood protection for the city of Lawrence. Their goal was to get $3 million restored to the local funding package and they were optimistic about the chances. City Manager Ray Wells, Wes Brune and Keith Winter of the chamber of commerce headed up the local group.
