Garner Stoll, who had been Lawrence-Douglas County planning director for two years, had accepted a similar post in Lincoln, Neb.

Seven members of the Kansas University faculty had been selected to receive awards for teaching excellence during the 1981-82 school year. They were William Balfour,Jessie Ball, David Bergeron, Pat Huber, Mike Kautsch, Lawrence Perry and S. Sam Shanmugan.
