Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for May 7, 1907: “Dr. S.B. Bell who provided Rosedale medical property to Kansas University for its medical school suggests a boulevard to connect Lawrence with Kansas City. The road would be built partly by personal subscriptions, partly by township help and partly by county aid. The plan is avowedly to make Lawrence a suburb of Kansas City. : The local Automobile Club says it will do everything it can to help create and support the new county fair being planned for this fall. Membership has grown to more than 30 of late. : The state board of health reports an abnormal number of measles cases in Kansas during March.”
