Milwaukee ? Brewers right-handed starter Jeff Suppan left Saturday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates two batters after being hit on the right leg with a sharp grounder in the sixth inning.

Ryan Doumit’s hard bouncer deflected off Suppan’s leg and squirted nearly all the way to the Brewers’ bullpen, where first baseman Prince Fielder fielded it.

Suppan was visited by trainer Roger Caplinger and manager Ned Yost, but stayed in the game to face two more batters. He reached 98 pitches when he was pulled for left-hander Brian Shouse and appeared to show no ill-effects from the play while running from the mound to the dugout after being taken out of the game.
