Fishing report

CLINTON LAKE (updated 5-2) – Water 59 degrees and 1.93 feet above normal pool. Discharge: 50 cfs. Wiper fair using jigs and minnows under bobber or casting jigs. Most reports are from dam and marina cove. Crappie fair using jigs at 3-15 feet around cover. Although no consistent, some days anglers are catching some from shore. Fishing should improve when spawn begins.

PERRY LAKE (updated 4-25) – Channel catfish fair. Fish are moving shallow with several being caught while crappie fishing. Shad also working well. Sauger fair. Spawn over, but some are being caught off the breaks near gavel with deep diving cranks or jigs. White bass fair to good off rocky points, rip-rap, twisters or shad-colored crankbaits and up the Delaware River. Some done spawning. White crappie fair to good on tube jigs or minnows at 5-8 feet. Most being caught are dark colored males.

DOUGLAS STATE LAKE (updated 5-2) – Repairs have been completed, but lake won’t reopen until January of 2009 in order to allow re-stocked fish to mature. Currently over 60 acres in basin.

LEAVENWORTH STATE LAKE (updated 5-2) – Largemouth bass fair casting chartreuse spinnerbaits, swimming jibs along weedline or dropping bait in pocket in weedbeds. Bluegill fair using worms under bobber. Crappie fair. Some being caught using minnows and jigs over brushpiles.

LONE STAR LAKE (updated 5-2) – Largemouth bass fair using jigs and spinnerbaits. Crappie fair. Some fish being caught using minnows and jigs around brushpiles and from bank. Channel catfish fair on nightcrawlers during runoff events. Note: Fall sampling revealed good populations of wiper and channel catfish, but limited numbers of crappie and redear sunfish. Ten new brushpiles were placed in lake last November.

LAKE SHAWNEE (updated 5-2) – Water 68 degrees and clear to 58 inches. Channel catfish good using chicken livers and worms. Largemouth bass good using crankbaits and spinnerbaits. Trout fair. Fishing winding down. Some being caught using power bait, small jigs or spinners.
