Jewish organizations to host Va. Tech event

The Chabad Student Center and KU Hillel will join together this week for an event centered on remembering the victims of the Virginia Tech University massacre.

The event, dubbed “Courage in the Face of Challenge,” will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Kansas Union. It will focus on how to “channel our tears into action, by urging people to dedicate a good deed in memory of a victim,” according to a news release.

The evening also is dedicated to the memory of Liviu Librescu, a Virginia Tech professor and Holocaust survivor who is credited with saving several students that day.

Lou Frydman, a retired KU professor and Holocaust survivor, will be the guest speaker.
