Pinckney School had festivities celebrating its 50th anniversary. Many former teachers and pupils were on hand for the event. The "beautiful, modern" building had opened in the fall of 1931 with Opal Jayne Kennedy as its principal. The building was named after Charles Cotesworth Pinckney, an early American statesman.
