The long battle over delineating the state’s five congressional districts was about to be resolved. It appeared Douglas County would stay in th 3rd District with Johnson and Wyandotte counties. The local county at one time had been rumored for inclusion in both the 2nd and 5th districts.

Patricia Williams Boyd of Central Junior High’s faculty was voted the Outstanding Young Educator in Kansas by the Kansas Jaycees.
