Cameron Hershiser re-ceived his Eagle Scout award Feb. 25, 2007, during a Court of Honor at First United Methodist Church in Lawrence.

Hershiser was a member of Cub Scout Pack 3071 and joined Troop 52 in 1999. He earned 30 merit badges and received awards in scuba, snorkeling, specialty diving, peak performance buoyancy and coral reef conservation. He earned the Venture Crew Ranger Award and the 50 Miler Award.

Hershiser served Troop 52 as patrol leader, quartermaster, scribe and assistant patrol leader. He attended Camp Naish in 1999 and 2001, and the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation in 2000 and 2002. He is a member of the Order of the Arrow and Venturing Crew 2691.

He traveled to the Philmont Scout Ranch in 2002 and 2004, the Elkhorn High Adventure Base in Colorado in 2003, and the Florida National High Adventure Sea Base in 2005. He was vice president and crew leader of the 2004 trek to Philmont.

For his Eagle project, Hershiser worked on a cross country ski trail at Clinton State Park. He built and installed new signs, repaired the trail and worked on erosion prevention, built a kiosk, updated a trail map and created a brochure.

Hershiser graduated from Lawrence High School and attends Emporia State University. He is the son of Craig and Marcia Hershiser, Lawrence.

¢Members of Boy Scout Troop 64, chartered to the Eudora Lions Club, and Cub Scout Pack 3064, chartered to Eudora United Methodist Church, will distribute Scouting For Food bags in the community during the next week.

The Scouts ask residents to place full bags of donated food on their porches by 9 a.m. March 31. The food will be taken to the Eudora Ministerial Alliance food pantry.

Troop 64 and Pack 3064 have been participating in the program since 1988 and have been joined in recent years by Eudora Girl Scouts, 4-H Club members, and, this year, government students from Eudora High School.
