Old Home Town – 25 years ago
On a voice vote, the Kansas House rejected a school finance package that had been passed by the Senate earlier in the week. Lawrence-area legislators all voted to reject the Senate offering, saying it had too many provisions for excess and abuse.
The Lawrence school board said it would not take action on 23 proposed money-saving proposals for the district until the Kansas Legislature made more meaningful progress on school finance decisions for 1982-83.
