Attorney appointed for ‘Naughty’ owner

A judge appointed an attorney on Thursday to represent a local business owner who is charged with operating a sex shop without a proper license and in an illegal location.

Richard Osburn, owner of Naughty But Nice, 1741 Mass., will next appear May 10 in Municipal Court for a hearing when Judge Randy McGrath may set a trial date.

McGrath on Thursday morning appointed Richard Frydman to defend Osburn. The trial already has been postponed once to allow Osburn time to find an attorney.

Osburn’s store remains open, and he started selling office supplies in an effort to show that he is like other retailers.

He said he believes the city is trying to put him out of business, not simply relocate him.
