Marist stuns OSU, 67-64

? Will Whittington scored 30 points, and Marist defeated Oklahoma State, 67-64, on Tuesday night in the first round of the NIT.

Marist, seeded seventh in the East Regional, became only the third nonconference opponent to win at Gallagher-Iba Arena in the Cowboys’ last 140 games against such teams. The Red Foxes (25-8) advanced to play North Carolina State in the second round.

Second-seeded Oklahoma State, which opened 15-1 this season, finished with a 22-13 record.

Marist trailed only in the opening stages. The Red Foxes’ largest lead came at 47-30 with 16 minutes left before Oklahoma State rallied behind the three-point shooting of Terrel Harris.
