Oread Books announces display by alumnus

Richard Fanolio, master artist and former director of graphics at Hallmark Cards, is displaying 12 pieces of his latest art show, “Geometric Landscapes,” at Oread Books in the Kansas Union, 1301 Jayhawk Blvd. The pieces will be on display through the end of March.

“Geometric Landscapes” features the artist’s interpretation of time, light and space as an expression of invisible ideas and concepts.

“I have attempted to unravel the complexities of two worlds, the seen and the unseen,” Fanolio said. “The work I have done in this latest series is to clarify concepts and ideas that are not actually visible. They are mental constructs to what we bare witness to everyday – an all-encompassing overview of forms in their wholeness with their relationships to our environment.”

The artist graduated from Kansas University in 1957 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design, and he has served on the KU School of Fine Arts Advisory Board for more than 25 years. He previously worked as a master artist and art director for Hallmark Cards, in Kansas City, Mo., and is now retired after 42 years.

His artwork is featured in various exhibits across the U.S.
