B.V. West, Wichita Hts. win 6A titles

? Robert Lewandowski scored 20 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead Blue Valley West over Leavenworth, 55-42, Saturday in the Class 6A boys championship.

The Jaguars used an 11-0 run in the fourth quarter to take control of the game after Leavenworth came within 34-33. Blue Valley West led, 27-20, at the half and was 8-of-10 from the free-throw line.

Lewandowski had three assists and capped a Blue Valley West run with a dunk off an alley-oop pass from Jake Wolfe that made it 45-33 with under three minutes left.

Leavenworth made just two field goals in the final seven minutes.

Taylor Embree and Josh Copp each added nine points for Blue Valley West.

Antoine Branch finished with a game-high 26 on 8-of-16 shooting for Leavenworth.

Wichita Heights girls 54, Olathe South 34

Emporia – Amanda Orloske and Shereka Copeland hit back-to-back three-pointers in the fourth quarter as Wichita Heights beat Olathe South in the Class 6A girls championship game.

Jadhken Kerr hit two free throws to pull Olathe South to within 33-28, but Orloske and Copeland’s three-pointers gave Wichita Heights an 11-point lead in the fourth. O-South managed just six points the rest of the game.

Copeland and Orloske led Wichita Heights with 14 points each. Kerr was the only Olathe South player to hit double figures with 10 points.

Wichita Heights took home its second consecutive state title, the fourth in the last six years and fifth overall, the most in Class 6A.
