Alabama job doesn’t go to KU vice provost

It’s official: One of Kansas University’s top administrators is out of the running for the presidency of the University of Alabama-Huntsville.

Word has been circulating in recent weeks on campus that Jim Roberts, vice provost for research, wasn’t offered the UAH job. But Roberts referred questions about the search to UAH officials, who didn’t make a formal announcement until Friday.

Roberts said he’d known for weeks that the job offer was going to the other finalist, David B. Williams of Lehigh University, but that he wasn’t comfortable talking about it publicly because he figured it was for UAH leaders to announce.

Roberts said he was honored to be named a finalist for the job but is happy to stay at KU.
