Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for March 9, 1907: “Lawrence is fortunate to have stage door guardians at the opera house to protect them from young men who might bother or accost them. No youths are allowed to meet the chorus girls and orders are strict for opera house guardians to enforce that. There have been enough incidents to mandate such protection. : The KU Dramatic Club has secured Georgia Brown as the new director in place of Prof. Frazier for the next production of the club. Miss Brown is well-known for her abilities and should help the group here.”
