Celtics’ Szczerbiak has ankle surgery

? Boston Celtics forward Wally Szczerbiak underwent season-ending surgery on his left ankle Thursday. The operation was performed by Dr. Brian McKeon, the team’s physician, the team said.

Szczerbiak missed significant time during four of the last five seasons because of injuries. The eighth-year pro missed 24 games this season because of injury – all but one because of ankle sprains.

Szczerbiak sprained his left ankle during Boston’s game against Sacramento on Feb. 20.
