Orchards Women: Prospective members are welcome at a meeting of the Orchards Ladies Golf Club at 9 a.m. Saturday at the clubhouse. Competition will be on Thursday afternoons and Friday mornings beginning in April. For information, call Barb Trouslot at 766-1046.

¢Orchards Men: An organizational meeting for the Orchards Senior Men’s Golf League will be at 9 a.m. March 16 at Drury Place. Competition will begin the first Tuesday in April. For information, call Ed White at 843-7456.

¢Spring City Sports: An organizational meeting for city adult volleyball will be at 7 p.m. today at the Community Building. Also, the city will take late registrations for adult softball, dodgeball and basketball through Friday. For information, call 832-7920 or go to www.lprd.org.

¢City Youth Programs: Houk League baseball early registration deadline is March 21. The ages 13-14 league also needs coaches. Tryouts are April 14-15. Heinrich League U-14 baseball has one opening. ¢Open Gyms: City adult free play basketball is available at Deerfield School from 6 to 9 p.m. on Fridays through March 23. For information, call 832-7920.

¢Lawrence Half-Marathon: Registration for the Lawrence Half-Marathon and 5K (formerly the Raintree Run) is under way. The road race will be April 15 and will benefit Health Care Access and the Gibson Huston Love Fund. To register or to volunteer, go to www.lawrencehalfmarathon.com.

¢Volleyball Champs: Lawrence’s Melanie Chaussee, Kelsey Allen, Sydnei Tolefree and Tayler Tolefree were members of the Wildcats volleyball team that won the Heart of America Gold Series Feb. 25 in Kansas City, Kan. The Wildcats won 18 of 19 matches.

¢Hole-in-one: Chris Coleman aced Eagle Bend hole No. 3 from 130 yards with a wedge. Witnesses were Darren Green, Stanley Harden and Rob Coleman.
