City manager’s salary expected to increase

City Manager David Corliss is scheduled to receive a 4 percent raise as part of tonight’s Lawrence City Commission meeting.

As part of their consent agenda, commissioners are expected to approve an increase in Corliss’ annual salary from $125,000 to $130,000. His employment contract also is proposed to be modified to include a $90 per month allowance for a wireless telephone and e-mail device.

Corliss was hired in late September to take over as city manager after the forced resignation of Mike Wildgen, longtime city manager. Commissioners met earlier this year and gave Corliss a positive job evaluation, but they did not address any salary issues.

General city employees at the beginning of the year received a 3 percent wage increase, but Corliss did not receive that wage adjustment. This is the first wage adjustment Corliss has received as city manager. It will cover his salary through the end of 2007, according to the contract.

Commissioners meet at 6:35 p.m. today at City Hall, Sixth and Massachusetts streets.
