Douglas County commissioners today will consider leasing lots the county owns in the 1100 block of Rhode Island Street to Tenants to Homeowners Inc.

Tenants to Homeowners would like to use the property located east of the Douglas County Judicial and Law Enforcement Center parking lot for construction of affordable housing.

If approved, Tenants to Homeowners would have a 12-month option period to determine the feasibility of renovating or demolishing an existing residence, building additional houses and obtaining financing. If a lease is signed, the organization would not pay rent for the four lots but would pay real estate taxes and carry liability and casualty insurance.

In other business, commissioners will consider a request from N.R. Hamm Quarry Inc. to build a 10-foot by 10-foot scale house at the Harrell Quarry, 631 N. 950 Road.

Commissioners also will consider approval of a cereal malt beverage license notice to townships for Clinton Marina and Clinton Store.
