Boy Scouts in Troop 52, chartered to First United Methodist Church, took first place in the overall competition at the Pelathe District Glacial Glutes campout Feb. 16-18 at the Fraternal Order of Police Campground in Douglas County. Scouts attending were patrol leader Andrew Denny, Conner Smith, Wesley Tedlock, Brendan Golledge, Doug Rawlings and Henry Reiske. They were accompanied by adult leaders Chris Golledge, Rowley Tedlock, Richard Rawlings and Mike Pierson.

¢Boy Scout Troop 53, chartered to Christ Community Church in Lawrence, conducted its annual Winter Court of Honor on Feb. 12. Boys receiving a rank advancement were Patrick Liston and Tommy Nissen, Scout; Alex Clabaugh, Tenderfoot; Connor Chestnut and Luke Lesslie, Second and First Class; and Alex McKinsey, First Class. Connor Chestnut, Zach Chumbley, John Hambleton, David Teefey and Jordan Yulich earned merit badges since the last Court of Honor. Ryan Pennington was elected the troop’s senior patrol leader, replacing John Chumbley, who had served since September.

¢Cub Scout Pack 3462, chartered to Langston Hughes School’s PTO, conducted its sixth annual Blue and Gold Banquet on Feb. 9 at First United Methodist Church’s West Campus.

Webelos II Scouts receiving the Arrow of Light Award, the highest achievement in Cub Scouting, were Diamond Brockway, Vail Moshiri, Thomas Peterson, Hunter Ross, AJ Ware, Garrett Weeks and Dakota Zinn. Diamond, Vail, Thomas, Hunter, Garrett and Dakota participated in a bridging ceremony and were welcomed as new members of Troop 52. AJ was welcomed as a new member of Troop 53.

Tiger badge recipients were Kyle Abrahamson, Nick Clancy, Max Denny, Calvin DeWitt, Harrison Hughes, Paul Jesse, Christopher Pendry, Ethan Perrins, Nick Salvino and Adam Ziegler. Wolf badge recipients were John Cashen, Sam Hambleton, Bryan Pechal, John Peterson, Matthew Peterson, Hayden Ponzer, Collin Ruckman, Matthew Solcher and Josh Waisner. Bear badge recipients were Joseph Cary, Zach Denny, Christian Iles, Steele Jacobs, Sean Jesse, Trey Pechal, Carter Ruckman, Andrew Solcher, Christopher Toalson and Carson Ziegler.

Webelos badge recipients were Trevor Hughes, John Kihm, Matthew Pribbenow, Jon Saathoff and Jack Ziegler.

Religious Square Knot award winners were Joseph Cary, John Kihm and Thomas Peterson.

Departing Den Leader Rod Zinn was recognized for his contributions and provided appreciation gifts from the dens and pack. Coordinators of the banquet were Carla Saathoff and Debby Ziegler. Cubmaster Steve Toalson presided over the ceremonies. The opening flag ceremony was led by the Webelos II den. The closing flag ceremony was led by the Webelos I den.
