The Pioneer 4-H Club conducted its January meeting at the Pratt home. President Sam Wilson called the meeting to order, and roll call was taken. The club nominated Courtney Harris as treasurer. It was announced that reporter Tori Crumet submitted articles to local newspapers.

The dates of County and Regional Club Days were announced, and the club heard about the potential change of the minimum age for joining 4-H in Kansas.

Claire Blevins gave a report from the County Council meeting. She discussed gathering ideas for National 4-H Week and community service, and talked about 4-H Journal subscriptions. The meeting was adjourned, and members made valentines for veterans.

¢The bimonthly meeting of the Douglas County 4-H Council was called to order by Wesley Callahan, president, on Feb. 19 at the Douglas County Extension Office. Council officers talked about their goals for the year. Lacey Hunsinger, secretary, read the roll call and the minutes of the previous meeting. Whitney Box, treasurer, gave her report. Shon Price, parliamentarian, gave a report about how to make motions. Tori Booth, fair board representative, reported that the board is talking about the draft horse pull, a no-fit beef show and a 60-pound goat weight. Kjrsten Abel Ruch, program coordinator, gave her top 12 announcements.

Primary and secondary committees met and gave their reports. The Achievement Night committee reported that the celebration will have a fiesta theme. The concession stand committee reported that day managers are still needed. The National 4-H Week committee reported that representatives need to get ideas from their clubs about 4-H Week. The Friendship Night committee reported that the event would be Sept. 29 and have a ’50s theme. The Club Days committee reported an 82 percent completion rate and gave out 190 ribbons at the event. The officer training committee reported that representatives need to get ideas about training from their clubs.

Trips and awards committee members are looking for a way to better use money for trips. The by-laws committee reported that a major shift in the constitution will be voted on later. Member-at-large committee members reported that they will approve state member-at-large rules.

Jen Livingood gave community service ideas, and guest Susan Jansen gave a community service idea called “For Your Comfort.” Other announcements: Clubs were assigned for council exchange; 4-H Camp will be June 5-8 at Rock Springs; camp counselor sign-ups are due April 9; camper sign-ups are due April 2; two representatives are needed for the Bromelsick Memorial on May 26; and the Douglas County Fair dates will be July 28-Aug. 5. The meeting was adjourned, and the next meeting will be April 16.
