¢ The University Bridge Club announces winners of its June 23 meeting. Hosts were John and Jane Golden with Carl and Isabelle Schaake. Blue winners were Walt Hicks, first; Tom Waller, second; Leo Langlois, third; Leonard Fleske, fourth; and Ray Ikenberry, fifth. Pink winners were Virginia Williams, first; Bebe Huxtable, second; Mary Fleske, third; Edna Galle, fourth; and Aileen Bocquin, fifth.

¢ The Wednesday Afternoon Bridge Club played a second special North American Pairs qualifying session on June 20. The game used a stratified Howell movement and was directed by Virginia Seaver. Grant Sutton and Catherine Blumenfeld placed first, followed by Bobby Patton and Barbara McCorkle. Third place went to Betty Collier and Mona Bell, then Virginia Seaver and Shirley Reese. Wanda Durbin and Julia Brooks placed fifth.

¢ The Friday Afternoon Bridge Club played the third special North American Pairs qualifying session June 22. The game used a stratified Mitchell movement and was directed by Virginia Seaver. First place in North-South went to Sally Davis and Catherine Blumenfeld, followed by Fred Lambert and Paul Heitzman. Chuck Hedges and Kent McCullough placed third, followed by Lester Dalton and Mary Fenlon.

First place in East-West went to Eldon Herd and Polly Schoning, followed by Elizabeth Jankord and Amit Chakrabarti. Shari Krentzel and Debbi Bettinger placed third in A and first in C, followed by Grant Sutton and Ajit Sampat at second in C. Forty-four players qualified this week to participate in the next level of competition in the North American competition.

¢ The Monday Evening Bridge Club played a stratified Mitchell movement that was directed by Virginia Seaver on June 25. North-South was led by Larry Bodle and Kent McCullough at first in A, followed by Chris Lane and Shirley Reese, at second in A and first in B. Jerry Sloan and Emily Foster placed third in A, followed by Jeane Landry and Harry Shaffer.

The East-West winners were led by Paul Heitzman and Donna Johnson at first in A, followed by David Piro and Grant Sutton in second place. Eldon Herd and Lois Clark placed third in A and first in B, followed by Jeff Nash and Virginia Hamilton at fourth in A and second in B. Elizabeth Amsbaugh and Dorothy Netson placed third in B and first in C, followed by Ann Thompson and Jolene Andersen at second in C.
