¢ Marcus Muhs, Lawrence, received a Bachelor of Science degree in horticulture from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville this spring.

¢ Kansas University’s School of Allied Health presented scholarships and awards to students with exceptional accomplishments during the 2006-2007 academic year.

Area students include Tiffany Cook, Oskaloosa; Brian Knapp, De Soto; and Alicia Stauch, Tonganoxie, who all received the June Hull Sherrid Scholarship, based on their scholastic achievement in Clinical Laboratory Science; Rebecca Brown, Lawrence, Chairperson’s Outstanding Student Award, presented to a physical therapy student; and Katherine Nielsen, Lawrence, Phi Kappa Phi honor society member.

¢ Rachel James, Lawrence, was named an honor student for the spring 2007 semester at Hollins University in Roanoke, Va. Students who earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher are named to the list. James is a junior majoring in English and political science. She is a graduate of Free State High School.

¢ Tatjana Petroman Calvano received a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in commencement ceremonies May 20 in Kansas City, Mo.

Calvano is a 1996 graduate of McLouth High School and received a bachelor’s degree in human biology from Kansas University. She plans to participate in a postdoctoral residency in internal medicine at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.

¢ Cherrale Ricks, Lawrence, was named to the Dean’s Honor List for grades achieved during the spring 2007 semester at Park University in Parkville, Mo. Students named to the list earned a grade-point average of 3.6 or higher.

¢ Several area students were named to honor rolls at Pittsburg State University for grades achieved during the spring 2007 semester. Students earning All-A Scholastic Honors include Erica Ogle and Katelyn Miles, Baldwin City; Kimberly Anderson, De Soto; Zachary Tyler and Megan Ballock, Eudora; Jonathan Ross, Perry Morrow, Ashley Taylor and Kate Scaletty, all of Lawrence; Michelle McCullough, Oskaloosa; Kimberly Flory and Jaime Walker, both of Ottawa; Kirstie Skelton and Jacob Ellis, both of Perry; and Madison Weller, Tonganoxie.

¢ Jacob Longaker, De Soto, has been named a 2007 David L. Boren Undergraduate Scholar by the National Security Education Program. Longaker is a junior at Kansas University. He will study on a student-initiated program through the Council on International Educational Exchange to Sao Paulo, Brazil, at the Pontifica Universidade Catolica de Sao Paulo.
