¢ Nick and Brandy Ernzen, Lawrence, announce the birth of their son, Garrett Levi Ernzen, born June 19, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Garrett weighed 5 pounds, 9 ounces and was 19 inches long.

Maternal grandmother is Mary Ann Mogle, Basehor. Paternal grandparents are Terry “Nick” and Margaret Ernzen, Easton. Great-grandparents are Doris Mogle, Basehor, and Jack Wood, Chillicothe, Mo.

¢ Bruce and Amy E. Montrose, Lawrence, announce the birth of their daughter, Sophia Elizabeth Montrose, born June 3, 2007, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

Maternal grandparents are Larry and Terri Karr, and Kristina Finch. Paternal grandparent is Lonnie Montrose. Her great-grandmother is Kay Karr.

¢ Craig and Barbara Anderson, Lawrence, celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary this month. They were married June 26, 1993, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence, with the Rev. Mike Scully officiating.

They have a daughter, Kayleigh.

¢ Todd Tingle and Angela Nikole Romero, Lawrence, announce the birth of their son, Andrew Cruz Romero-Tingle, born June 6, 2007, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

Maternal grandparents are Mark and Loriann Romero, Lawrence. Paternal grandparents are Randy and Carol Tingle, Lawrence. Great-grandparents are Bertha Bermudez, Lazara and Frank Romero, and Becky Watts, all of Lawrence; and Robert Cumming, Eleanor Coupe and Barbara Coupe, all of Florida.

¢ Jennifer Engle graduated in May with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphic design from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She is employed as a graphic designer with Hott Off the Press Printing in Des Moines. Engle is a 2003 graduate of Free State High School.

¢ Shannon Wanna, Lawrence, was named to the Dean’s Honor Roll for Social Responsibility in the College of Business for the spring 2007 semester at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. The honor roll recognizes students who display leadership initiative and participate in community service.

¢ Abigail Olson received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va. Commencement ceremonies were conducted June 7. Olson majored in art history and politics.

¢ Missouri State University in Springfield announces scholarships received by incoming students for the 2007-2008 academic year.

The students were selected based on ACT scores, standing in their graduating class, and leadership in community and school activities.

Area students who received a Midwest Student Exchange Program award include Amanda Vander-Tuig and Kelsey Verhaeghe, both of Baldwin City; Ronni Webster, Basehor; and Andrew Sigler, Lawrence. Vander-Tuig and Craig Moore, Wellsville, received a Board of Governors Scholarship. Moore also received an Out-of-State Fee Stipend.

¢ Myriam Bloom and Lynne Sauer, both of Lawrence, and Lauren Sanders, Wellsville, were named to the dean’s list for grades achieved during the spring 2007 semester at Missouri State University in Springfield. Students who earned a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher were named to the list.

¢ Thomas Bush, Lawrence, has been named to the dean’s list for grades achieved during the winter term at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va. Students on the list earned a grade-point average of at least 3.4. Bush is a junior.

¢ Merry Chadwick and Anne Kettle, both of Lawrence, were recognized for having a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 or higher at St. Olaf College’s annual Honors Day convocation, conducted May 4 at the college in Northfield, Minn.

¢ Molly Bretthauer received a degree with honors in television writing and production from Columbia College of Chicago on May 12. A graduation party was given May 19 in Lawrence.

Bretthauer plans to complete post-graduate study in Los Angeles this summer.

¢ Brandon Reed, a recent graduate of Baldwin High School, received a $500 scholarship from the East Central Kansas Economic Opportunity Corp. (ECKAN).

¢ Bobbie Liu, Lawrence, graduated from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Mich., on May 19. She also received a Leadership Achievement Award. Liu is a graduate of Lawrence High School and Kansas University.

¢ Darion Pearson received a Bachelor of Arts degree in classics from Amherst College in Amherst, Mass., on May 27. Pearson is a graduate of Free State High School.

¢ Kelsey Randall, Lawrence, was named to the Dean’s List for grades achieved during the spring 2007 semester at Taylor University in Upland, Ind. She is a junior majoring in health and physical education. Students named to the list earned a grade-point average of 3.6 or higher.
