Kansas University Chancellor Clarke Wescoe asked the Kansas Board of Regents to take another look at the 15-1 student-faculty ratio “because it does not help the university.” Wescoe claimed a 12-1 or 11-1 ratio would create a far more favorable and productive learning climate.

Loss estimates for local crops had topped $300,000 because of the ultra-wet weather during the spring and summer. New rains had flattened the wheat again but it appeared the Kaw River crest would be below the flood stage of 18 feet this time around.
