Burial held for former Austrian president

? Former President Kurt Waldheim was buried Saturday in the presence of Austrian dignitaries who declared he was unjustly smeared by allegations linking him to the Nazis.

Waldheim, who also served as U.N. chief from 1972-81, died June 14 at his home in Vienna, with his name still on a watch list barring him from entering the United States. He was 88.

Speaking at the ceremony at St. Stephen’s Cathedral, President Heinz Fischer said Waldheim’s life had to be judged “as a whole,” and that he was unjustly accused of deeds “he did not do.”
