Coyotes’ big first inning helps corral Colts

The 12U Coyotes used a six-run first inning to kick start the offense on their way to a 19-7 victory over the Colts in DCABA action on Saturday at 4-H Fields.

Coyotes’ right fielder Matt Carmody got into the first inning action with a two-run double that helped stake his team to a 6-0 lead.

The Colts responded in the bottom of the first with two runs courtesy of an Austin Mater-Kimball two-run double.

Wild pitching helped the Coyotes plate three unearned runs in the top of the second to extend the lead to 9-2.

The Colts responded once again in their half of the second with five runs. Jake Wisdom cashed in a two-run double, which helped close the gap to 9-7.

The Coyotes answered for good in the top of the third as Thomas Boatright delivered a two-run home run to center, putting the Colts away.
