Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for June 19, 1907: “Dr. F.H. Snow of the university and a party of entomologists have left here for Patagonia, Ariz., to collect insect specimens for the university museum. They will be gone six weeks and have high hopes for bringing back some 20,000 specimens, many of them of an ‘undiscovered’ nature. This will be a major scientific venture. : Crowds were enormous today at the fifth annual remnant sale at The Fair. This is one of the most successful sales events in local history. . . . Haskell Institute graduation was today and many local people attended, making it a banner event for the school and the town. Local support is to be commended. “
