Ruth Graham laid to rest Sunday

? Ruth Graham was buried Sunday at the foot of a cross-shaped walkway in the woodsy Prayer Garden, on the grounds of the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte.

Her family gathered for a private service at noon, during which they sang “Amazing Grace” and heard Billy Graham and two ministers speak, according to Graham spokesman Larry Ross, who released an account of the service.

“The Bible says the Lord has prepared a place for us and I know he has prepared a home for her – I hope she saves a room for me,” said Graham of his wife of almost 64 years, who died Thursday at 87.

The Charlotte-born evangelist kissed and prayed over a red rose before placing it on her casket, which was adorned with a bed of lilies – the Christian symbol for resurrection.

Graham also told his assembled children and grandchildren that he is “looking forward to the … next service here,” when Graham, now 88, will be buried next to his wife.
