Commission to discuss sidewalk budget
Bottom line
City staff members are asking commissioners to give direction on how to spend $250,000 this year that has been budgeted for sidewalk and traffic-calming projects.
Background
Public works leaders are recommending the sidewalk money be used to fill in gaps along major roadways. The projects they are recommending for 2007 are: the south side of Sixth Street from Rockledge to Schwarz; the north side of Ninth Street from Sunset to Iowa; and the south side of Trail Road from Lawrence Avenue to Rockfence Place. Public works leaders are also recommending funding for one of the many previously approved traffic-calming projects. Staff members recommend a $100,000 project to build a traffic diverter on 18th Street between Maine and Missouri streets, and the construction of a raised crosswalk on Louisiana Street between 18th and 19th streets.
