From the Lawrence Daily World for June 13, 1907: “State crop conditions appear generally good. Wheat yields should be good but the corn is lagging even though it is not yet in a discouraging condition. The spring cold snaps were very costly to many. : Lawrence could have one of the best July 4 celebrations in its history this year because the early planning seems to be lining up some of the finest events on record for that holiday. : Ottawa leaders have had a falling out about opening the chautauqua for an admission charge on a Sunday and now it appears the event could be canceled.”
