Raiders fall twice
Baldwin ? The Lawrence Raiders couldn’t give their pitchers quite enough offensive support in their two games at the Baker Tournament on Friday and subsequently lost both.
The pitching performance of Caleb Gress went to waste in the first game – a 4-1 loss to the Kansas City Hornets. He gave up three runs on five hits in five innings of work.
Against the Columbia Bombers – a game they lost 4-3 – the Raiders (1-5) got 61â3 strong innings from Joe Kornbrust, who gave up four runs with five hits, while striking out three batters.
“Our pitchers did really well. Both of them could have earned the wins in both games,” first-year Raiders coach Shaun Edmondson said.
The Raiders got consistent offense from Ben Wilson, who went a combined 5-for-5 with two stolen bases and a run scored.
Next for the Raiders is a 2 p.m. game today against Gardner-Edgerton at Gardner-Edgerton High School.
